The course contains i.e.: world food output, leading agricultural producers and exporters in the world, climatic zones and type of agriculture, from evolution to revolution in agriculture, food supply in different countries, the influence of international organizations on agriculture and rural development in the world. Sources of information on world agriculture.

The course objectives: the course includes aspects of agricultural production state in different regions of the world, in terms of their geographic and economy diversity. Students learn the issues of agricultural production potential if different climate zones of the world. They familiarize themselves with the current sources of information on agriculture.

Efekty uczenia się:

KNOWLEDGE:

Students have the knowledge about the diversity and specificity of the productive potential of agriculture in the various regions of the world.

SKILLS:

- Students knows the basic vocabulary in English related to crops, tillage breeding and irrigation equipment

- Students are able to convert measurement units, including those relating to the climate change, on those used in counties with English and British and American measurement system

- Students can define the parameters of the natural conditions for agricultural production, knowing the geographical location of the region.

SOCIAL COMPETENCE:

Students overcome resistance to participation in discussions on topic related to agriculture, climate and plant world

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Lectures: written exam – test checking the knowledge of English terms for plants, climate conditions, tillage and also British and American measurement units associated with agricultural production as well as the orientation of the planted areas and trade directions of agricultural products.

Grade E (2.0) Very low level of understanding , less than 40%

Grade D (3.0) Basic information about the lectures and lab practicals, 45-55%

Grade C (3.5) Ability to discuss any problem at the intermediatelevel 60%

Grade B (4.0) Good understanding of the subject, ability to ask about different issues, 70%

Grade B+ (4.5) Very good knowledge about the subject, student is interested in the subject and asks for more information, works on his own 85%

Grade A (5.0) Excellent understanding, full discussion, very good lab practicals more than 90%

-Grade E (2.0) Does not know basic data and characteristics of the most important economic, social, and environmental relations and processes. Does not identify crucial sources of information and basic EU institutions shaping agricultural and rural policy.

Classes: assessment of the substantial and formal preparation and also presentation skills in English, selected issued of agricultural production of the regions in the world.

Final mark = 0.6 x exam grade (lectures) + 0.4 x summary mark (exercises).

COMMENT: The lecturer, based on the degree of the student's mastery of the curriculum content of the subject, based on his own didactic experience, formulates the assessment using the formal criteria set out above
