The program of course is designed to prepare students to understand the principles of creating and implementing environmental policy. Graduate course knows the rules of functioning and structure of the programs, and is able to assess the impact of agricultural activities on the environment. Student is aware of the influence of agro-environmental programs on the quality of living conditions of the rural population. |

Lectures 1. Renewable resources and their protection. Occurrence and significance of areas of high nature value (HNV). 2. Agriculture and environment. Relationships, risks and prospects. 3. Environmental Protection in the Common Agricultural Policy. Ecological and socio-economic aspects of nature preservation. 4-5. The structure of agri-environmental programs and criteria for participation. 6-7. Characteristics of selected habitats covered by the agri-environmental programs. 8-9. The role of permanent grassland in agri-environmental programs. 10. Current state and prospects of development of agri-environmental programs. Field classes: 1-5. Preparation of botanical expertise of the field covered by agri-environmental program. |

Knowledge: know the rules of functioning of the agri-environmental programs, their origins and prospects in Poland and Europe, knows the terminology and is characterize processes occurring by the implementation of agri-environmental Skills: analyze the impact of agriculture on the environment, identifies the selected habitats of high nature value, recognize environmental risks and know how their to minimize Competence: is aware of the importance of sustainable farming systems for the natural environment and how it improve the living conditions of rural population |

Methods and criteria of grading: Classes: a / evaluation of the quality of expertise rated as 0 to 5 Lectures: written test exam (about 30 questions from the entire range of the subject with four response options), 0 or 1 pt. for each question Grade E (2.0) Very low level of understanding , (test result less than 40%) Grade D (3.0) Basic information about the lectures and lab practicals, (test result 41-50%) Grade C (3.5) Ability to discuss any problem at the intermediate level, (test result 51-60%) Grade B (4.0) Good understanding of the subject, ability to ask about different issues, (test result 61-70%) Grade B+ (4.5) Very good knowledge about the subject, student is interested in the subject and asks for more information, works on his own, (test result 71-85%) Grade A (5.0) Excellent understanding, full discussion, very good lab practicals, (test result more than 85%) |
