Standardization of timber quality of in European Union countries. Comparative analysis of size and quality requirements in timber classification according to Polish and EU standards. The economic aspects of applying EU standards in practice in the light of previous research. General information on the harvesting and utilisation of the main forest by-products harvested in Poland: resin, leaves, bark, herbs, fruit, mushrooms. Stress factors affecting the forest environment and categories of natural disasters. The timber base in areas affected by natural disasters. Types of wood damage and economic losses arising in various disaster situations. The logistics of machine timber harvesting in post-disaster stands. Principles of work organisation, selection of technologies, executive relationships, relations between state forests and forest work contractors. The concept of forest damage, its character and durability, categories of soil damage, the impact of soil compaction on plant growth, measurements of soil compactness, methods of forest soil protection against excessive compaction, visual methods for assessing the condition of forest soils after processes of timber harvesting and extraction, degree of forest soil disturbance resulting from the application of different timber harvesting technologies and under various stand conditions. Methods of work analysis and standardisation in technological processes of timber harvesting. Basic principles of human work analysis, methods of research into work processes involved in timber harvesting and extraction. Time measurements in work analysis. Variability of work and methods of reducing errors in its measurements. Research on the time-consumption of technological processes. Methods of designing energy timber supply chains: strategies and techniques of operational research. Work safety management systems, including ISO-18000, regulations of the European Parliament, recommendations of the International Labour Organization. Measures limiting the level of hazard. Utilisation of non-state forests. Ownership, historical and economic conditions of non-state forests. Management principles in non-state forests in terms of timber harvesting. The role of state authorities, local governments and state forests in the supervision and stimulation of forest management in non-state forests. Timber harvesting and bioenergy production programmes in Poland. Renewable energy sources (RES) in Poland, EU programmes in the field of clean energy harvesting. The role of wood biomass in the production of energy from renewable sources. Technologies of timber harvesting and processing for energy purposes, equipment and technological means. The current status and perspectives of timber harvesting for energy purposes in Poland. Technological systems of timber export processes. Methods for determination of technological indexes, trends and economic efficiency. Elements of timber export logistics. Determination of the performance indexes and cost-consumption of a technological process, methods of economic and technological optimisation of timber harvesting processes. Characteristics of the most important wood materials: plywood, plain and oriented chipboard, wet and dry formed fiberboard, blockboard. The basics of the production process of the most important wood materials: wood species used for the production of wood materials and major quality and size parameters of tree stems, important in the production of wood materials, methods of wood plasticizing, methods of veneer slicing, chip splicing and methods of fractionation in the course of forming a panel, finishing treatments of wood materials. Characteristics of the anatomical structure and macrostructure of the wood of major, foreign, fast-growing tree species: Douglas fir, giant fir, black locust, red oak, black cherry, poplars, Paulownia - clon in vitro 112. Selected properties and possibilities of utilisation of the wood of fast-growing, foreign tree species. |
