Dynamics of plant populations – demographic processes, seed production and dispersal, interactions among plants. Interactions between plants and other organisms; fungi and animals Introduction to the systems of classification of plant communities. Braun-Blanquet approach and the hierarchical system of classification of plant communities Plant communities in coniferous and mixed coniferous forests; nutrient limitation, role of dwarf shrubs among the plants of the forest floor, role of mosses and lichens Plant communities in deciduous forests, riparian forests and swamp forests. Vernal geophytes as a group of plants typical for the field layer of deciduous forests. Concepts of vegetation dynamics: theory of succession and the patch-mosaics cycle. Field trip to the Niepolomice Forest. Selecting representative vegetation patches in mixed coniferous forests. Conducting phytosociological relevés Field trip to the Kraków Upland. Selecting representative vegetation patches in deciduous forests. Conducting phytosociological relevés. Analysis of the share of various functional groups among the plants of the forest floor |
