During that subject the principles of organic farming system will be shown, including a proper crop rotation, soil cultivation, organic fertilization and crop protection. Also regulations related with this farming system, and information on how and where to obtain the certificate of the organic farm will be presented.

1-4. Farm transition to organic farming system – selection of crop plants to rotation, soil tillage, plant protection and management.

5-8. Crop rotations, specificity of crop-plants growing

9-12. Soil tillage (agrotechnology cards for crop-plants in rotation)

13-16. Plant nutrition (permitted mineral and organic fertilizers)

17-20. Plant protection in narrow and wide row species

21-30. Visiting an organic farm.

Knowledge: students will know the principles of organic farming system.

Skills: students will be able to design crop rotation, according to organic farming system requirements including fertilization and pest management methods.

Social competences: understanding of necessity of continuous study, due to the progress in this field of knowledge.

Grade E (2.0) Does not know the basic definitions of organic farming, cannot design a proper crop rotation.

Grade D (3.0) Knows the basic principles of organic farming.

Grade C (3.5) Knows the basic principles of organic farming. Can design a crop rotation.

Grade B (4.0) Knows the principles of organic farming well. Can design a proper crop rotation, including fertilization.

Grade B+ (4.5) Knows the principles of organic farming very well. Can design a crop rotation, including fertilization and pest management methods.

Grade A (5.0) Is fluent in the principles of organic farming. Designs crop rotations, including fertilization and pest management methods.
