Subject “Agribusiness” will be divided into the four main topics: 1. Foundations of Macroeconomics, which is the study of behavior of the economy as a whole; 2. Microeconomics, the study which gives a description of main rules of environmental protection policy creating; 3. Corporate Social Responsibility in Agribusiness 4. Communication in the Management - the main aim of the course is to improve communication skills that are necessary to manage the company or a team. By taking this course (lectures and classes) you will learn more about yourself, your resources and how to use them, learn how to make choices, and use business management skills.

I. Subject: Foundations of Macroeconomics (15 lectures + 15 classes)

Lectures (15 hours):

1. Fundamental concepts of Macroeconomics - 3h

2. National Income Accounting - 3h

3. Central Banking and Monetary Policy - 3h

4. Budget and Fiscal Policy - 3h

5. International Trade and the World Economy - 3h

Classes (15 hours):

1. Details of the National Accounts - 2h

2. Aggregate Supply in Short and Long Run - Classical and Keynesian approach, AS-AD and the Business Cycle - 4h

3. Money Market Equilibrium - 2h

3. Fiscal and Monetary Policy effects, Model IS-LM - 5h

4. Protectionism and free trade - 2h

II. Environmental protection policy (15 lectures + 15 classes)


1. The basic rules of environmental policy – the need of creating consistent policy of protection (2h)

2. The instruments of the environmental policy goals realization – direct and indirect (3h)

3. The role of law in the environmental protection policy (1h)

4. The European Union environmental protection policy (2h)

5. National programs of environmental protection (5h)

6. Sustainable Development Policy and Management (2h)


1. Describing the environmental policy goals on local and global level (3h)

2. Environmental policy in the enterprise – analysis of the identifications of environmental issues (3h)

3. Analysis of product life cycle as the method of influence assessment of economic activity (3h)

4. Describing the environmental protection goals in the enterprise on the base of environmental conditions (3h)

5. Social participation in the environmental management. Describing the environmental protection goals in the local government (3h)

III. Corporate Social Responsibility in Agribusiness (7 lectures + 8 classes)

IV. Communication in the Management (7 lectures + 8 classes)

1. Interpersonal communication in business: meanings and basic principles (1h)

2. Leadership in business: the importance of leadership in the organization, features of good leader, styles of leadership (1h)

3. Management of the employee teams: team building, team vs. group, the principles of working in group, the effectiveness of group working, the principles of effective communication among the group (1h)

4. Coaching and mentoring in communication: attitude of the coach, qualities of a good coach (1h)

5. Negotiation and mediation in business: basic principles (1h)

6. Persuasion, suggestion and manipulation in business: the use of manipulation, ways of dealing with manipulation (1h)

7. Problem solving and working with difficult people: causes of conflicts, ways of dealing with conflict, rules of effective communication (1h)

8. Public communication and communicating with the customer: principles and differences (1h)

9. Communication barriers in the organization and the ways of overcoming them: preparing scenarios of elimination of barriers depending on their types (based on the case study) (1h)

10. Techniques of active thinking and their use in the management: exercises in groups taking into account the principles of working in groups. Training of creativity (1h)

11. Assertiveness: psychological test in terms of assertiveness, creating assertive expressions, training of assertiveness (1h)

12. Mediation and negotiation. Negotiation tactics - preparing messages using negotiation techniques (1h)

13. Public speaking in business. Preparing communicatory and persuasive speeches (1h)

14. Media and business: advertising and PR as a form of communication with the outside environment, preparation of appropriate forms of communication depending on the situation and the company internal and external environment (1h)

15. The use of modern IT tools in internal and external communication: importance of the internet, intranet, email and social networks in communication and management (problem solving) (1h)

Grade E (2.0) Very low level of understanding , less than 45%

Grade D (3.0) Basic information about the lectures and lab practicals, 45-55%

Grade C (3.5) Ability to discuss any problem at the intermediatelevel 60%

Grade B (4.0) Good understanding of the subject, ability to ask about different issues, 70%

Grade B+ (4.5) Very good knowledge about the subject, student is interested in the subject and asks for more information, works on his own 85%

Grade A (5.0) Excellent understanding, full discussion, very good lab practicals more than 90%
