Skrócony opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) The aim of this course is to present how to prepare the experiments, perform statistical calculations on data obtained in these experiments and correctly interpret the results. Lectures begin with the reminding of the basic statistical terms. During next lectures some statistical tests used to verify the various hypotheses are discussed together with the assumptions needed for those test (t-test for two independent or paired samples, analysis of variance in a variety of classifications, post hoc tests, chi-square test, linear and multiple linear regressions, correlation, nonparametric tests). Classes are held in a computer lab where students analyze the experimental data using SAS programs. |
Pełny opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) Lectures: Basic statistical terms a) a population and a sample, a random sample b) functions of sample (arithmetic mean, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, standard error) c) a test and a hypothesis, types of tests and hypotheses, a level of test significance, a critical region, two types of errors in hypotheses testing Testing of different hypotheses a) the t-test for two independent or two paired samples b) an one-way analysis of variance and the F-test c) a two-way analysis of variance with/without an interaction d) an analysis of experiments in randomized blocks and in a Latin square e) an analysis of variance in hierarchical classification f) linear regressions g) measures of relationships: Pearson and Spearman correlations h) nonparametric tests Classes: Statistical analysis of data obtained in various experiments – a choice of an appropriate method of testing, calculations in SAS and correct interpretation of the SAS results |
